Miami Film Festival GEMS Sets 13th Edition Lineup
The festival runs Oct. 29-Nov. 5, opening with A24's 'The Debut' and closing with 'Club Kid.'
Miami Dade College's Miami Film Festival announced the lineup for the 13th Miami Film Festival GEMS, which runs Oct. 29-Nov. 5. The festival will open with A24's The Debut from writer-director Jesse Eisenberg and close with A24's Club Kid from writer-director and star Jordan Firstman.
Centerpiece titles include Being Heumann, Behemoth!, Bunker, Elsinore, Paper Tiger, and Wild Horse Nine.
Variety will honor John Turturro with the Variety Creative Vanguard Award during the festival, with The Only Living Pickpocket in New York also screening. Kyle MacLachlan will receive the Precious Gem Award at an event with Books & Books honoring his memoir Fictional Self.
The festival will also host a retrospective screening of Hedwig and the Angry Inch for its 25th anniversary, followed by an Impact Award presentation and Q&A with John Cameron Mitchell.
Club Kid had its world premiere in Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival. Mouse, from directors Kelly O'Sullivan and Alex Thompson, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival.
