Mike Flanagan Explains Carrie Finale's Divergence From King's Novel

Mike Flanagan and cast members discuss how the Carrie finale departs from Stephen King's book and sets up a potential season 2, in an interview with ScreenRant.

Mike Flanagan and cast members Summer H. Howell and Amber Midthunder discussed the Carrie season 1 ending and the setup for a potential season 2 in an interview with ScreenRant.

The finale reveals a group of unidentified women led by Kate Siegel's Adelaide, who are powered individuals. In the closing events, Emaline, played by Thalia Dudek, takes control of Carrie's body to push her to kill the prom attendees.

The ending diverges from Stephen King's novel by having Carrie survive and leave town with Emaline. In King's original novel, Carrie dies at the end and does not learn she is not alone.

King's Carrie was published in 1974.
