Mike Flanagan has confirmed that his planned adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower is still in development at Amazon MGM Studios. In a new interview, Flanagan said the project has never stopped being worked on and he believes it will eventually be made.

Flanagan explained that moving the rights for The Dark Tower takes more than a calendar year due to involvement from multiple studios and characters. Despite the complexity, he remains committed to bringing the series to the screen.

The project was first announced in 2022, when Flanagan acquired the rights and planned to adapt it under Amazon MGM Studios. After signing an overall deal with Amazon, the studio prioritized a Carrie adaptation as Flanagan's first project.

Flanagan has previously created film adaptations of Stephen King works including Gerald's Game, Doctor Sleep, and The Life of Chuck. His first King TV show, Carrie, has received positive reviews, sitting at 84% on Rotten Tomatoes.
