Sanderson: Mistborn film script second draft about 10% done
Brandon Sanderson says he is sending Apple his proposed revision approach for the first Mistborn movie screenplay before travelling to discuss it.
Brandon Sanderson said the second draft of the first Mistborn movie screenplay is only about 10% complete and has not yet been started, according to movieweb.com. The author gave the update in his weekly video.
Sanderson said he had prepared responses for Apple on how to approach revising the screenplay and was sending them to the company that day. He also plans to travel to discuss the revision approach with Apple before beginning the actual rewrite.
He described the path to finishing the second draft as long and winding, and said the screenplay may go through four or five drafts before a finished script exists. Director and cast announcements would likely follow only after that stage.
In June 2026, Sanderson completed the first draft of the script for the first Mistborn movie. Apple TV is developing The Stormlight Archive as a TV show and the Mistborn novels as a series of films.
Seven books, one screenplay at a time
Sanderson has written seven Mistborn books so far. The first trilogy features characters including Vin, Kelsier and Sazed.
