Miyauchi stages new Zubat scene at Shibuya talk event
Hiroshi Miyauchi performed a live action scene presented as a continuation of Kaiketsu Zubat, alongside co-star Shin Saito, at LOFT9 Shibuya.
Hiroshi Miyauchi performed a live staged action scene at a talk event at LOFT9 Shibuya on October 17, 2026, presented as a "continuation" of Kaiketsu Zubat, according to cinematoday.jp. The event, titled "Michi Yamato no Gachitoku! Miyauchi Hiroshi no Hero-do," was planned and hosted by suit actor and action director Michi Yamato.
Shin Saito, who played Detective Tojo in the series, joined the event and appeared on stage with Miyauchi. In the staged scene, Miyauchi's Ken Hayakawa rescues Detective Tojo from Dakker combatants. Yamato choreographed the fight on the spot, and Miyauchi performed it to a large ovation, blowing a kiss to the audience at the end.
Kaiketsu Zubat aired in 1977, with Miyauchi starring as detective Ken Hayakawa. For Saito, Detective Tojo was his first regular role, taken on at about 37 years old; the two had not met for 46 years before the event. In episode 11, Hayakawa and Tojo had a major fight scene.
Despite high ratings, merchandise sales were poor, the sponsor withdrew and the show ended early. Producer Toru Hirayama said he would definitely make the show again, but the company did not approve, and a planned production at another company stalled just before filming was to begin.
