Netflix Orders Series Adaptation of Curtis Sittenfeld's Prep
Nicole Taylor, creator of One Day, will write and showrun the half-hour drama, with a writers' room expected to open in January 2027.
Netflix has given a straight-to-series order to Prep, an adaptation of Curtis Sittenfeld's 2005 novel, according to screenrant.com. Nicole Taylor, creator of One Day, is attached as writer, showrunner and executive producer.
Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor will executive produce through Gloria Sanchez Productions, alongside Sittenfeld. The project is described as a half-hour drama, and its writers' room is expected to open in January 2027.
Taylor said she has wanted to adapt the novel for the 20 years since she first read it. Netflix has not announced cast members or a release date for Prep.
An earlier attempt at HBO
In 2016, HBO began developing a comedy series based on Prep with Colleen McGuinness and Carolyn Strauss attached, but the project never moved forward. Sittenfeld's debut novel was published in 2005 and spent weeks on The New York Times bestseller list.
Taylor previously adapted David Nicholls' novel One Day for Netflix; that series premiered in 2024.
