Netflix Backs Second Santiago-Guadalajara Queer Incubator

Six filmmakers from across Latin America will attend Sanfic Industria and the Guadalajara Film Festival, with a $10,000 grant for one project.

Netflix has come on board as a strategic partner of the second edition of the Santiago-Guadalajara Queer Incubator, according to Variety. The support, channeled through the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity, covers in-person participation at Sanfic Industria and the Guadalajara Film Festival for six selected filmmakers, including travel and accommodation.

A $10,000 grant will also go toward developing one of the selected projects.

The six projects are led by Fer Elías Rioseco and Yoksan Xu of Chile, Luis Diego Pérez of Costa Rica, Jimena Román of Paraguay, Samara Pérez of Puerto Rico and David Pulido of Mexico.

They will be presented at Sanfic Industria from Nov. 2-6 during the event's 22nd edition, and again at the 42nd Guadalajara Film Festival in March.

Mentors and industry support

Mentors for the participating filmmakers include Mariana Rondón, Marité Ugás of Sudaca Films, Alfredo Castro, Emilio Papimija and Michel Salazar.

The Incubator held its first edition in August 2025, which Netflix also supported.
