Pan's Labyrinth returns to theaters tonight for a 20th anniversary re-release presented in 4K for the first time, in both 3D and HDR by Barco versions. The theatrical run is a collaboration between Cineverse and Fathom Entertainment.

Guillermo del Toro said around 1,300 human artists worked on the 3D conversion and restoration. The 3D conversion was overseen by Aaron Parry of SDFX Studios.

The re-release also includes a new color grade and sound mix. Del Toro said absolutely no AI was used at any step of the process of bringing the 2006 film to theaters in 4K and 3D.

Del Toro said work on the conversion started last year and was done in increments, beginning with a test.
