Paramount Cancels Transformers/G.I. Joe Crossover Movie
Paramount has scrapped the Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover film, but Danny McBride's G.I. Joe movie moves ahead with Bradley Cooper as Duke.
Paramount has cancelled its planned Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover movie, and the project is no longer in development, according to Collider.
The crossover was first teased in 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which ended with Noah Diaz being approached by G.I. Joe recruiter Agent Burke. Chris Hemsworth had been attached to star as Duke in the planned film. He previously voiced Orion Pax/Optimus Prime in 2024's Transformers One.
Meanwhile, a separate G.I. Joe movie from Danny McBride is moving forward, with Bradley Cooper cast as Duke.
The Transformers franchise has struggled to match its earlier box office heights. Transformers: The Last Knight, the fifth Michael Bay-directed installment, underperformed, and later entries Bumblebee, Rise of the Beasts, and Transformers One failed to recapture the franchise's previous billion-dollar grosses.
The two Hasbro properties have crossed over before: the original Marvel G.I. Joe and the Transformers comic series first hit shelves in 1987. More recently, Skybound's Energon Universe comics have interwoven Transformers, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., Rom: Space Knight, and Micronauts, with an animated adaptation in development.
