Platoon One Boards Indian Drama 'Kidney' Ahead of Tallinn Debut
Platoon One Films has joined 'Kidney' as co-producer before the film's slot in the Critics' Picks Competition at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
Platoon One Films, the company founded by Shiladitya Bora, has boarded the Indian drama 'Kidney' as co-producer, ahead of the film's slot in the Critics' Picks Competition at Estonia's Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), according to Variety.
'Kidney' is the second feature from filmmaking siblings Aakarsh Sansanwal and Agrim Sansanwal, who co-directed and co-wrote the film. It is produced by Enfant Terrible Productions, the Mumbai company the brothers set up.
The film is set in an isolated Indian village and follows a young man and a young woman from feuding families who fall in love.
Aakarsh Sansanwal said the film was made with very little money, and that the village's farming community stepped in to help when the budget ran out.
From Dharamshala to Tallinn
The Sansanwals' first feature, the experimental 'To Caterpillar, From Butterfly,' debuted at the Dharamshala International Film Festival. Aakarsh Sansanwal has worked as an assistant director to Reema Kagti, Abhinay Deo and Pushpendra Misra, while Agrim Sansanwal trained in editing and assisted editor Deepa Bhatia on 'Skater Girl.'
Platoon One's slate includes 'Bayaan,' 'Toh Ti Ani Fuji,' 'Bhagwan Bharose,' 'Minimum,' 'Ghaath,' 'Picasso' and 'Yours Truly.'
