Prime Video Unveils Four Nordic Originals

Prime Video is building out its Nordic originals slate with four series spanning Denmark, Norway and Sweden, as reported by Deadline.

The streamer's first Danish original, Snake Killer, launched in January and stars Pilou Asbæk. The four-part series centers on Copenhagen's narcotics police unit Uropatruljen and was written and directed by Anders Ølholm.

From Norway comes Rinnan, a drama series about Henry Rinnan, co-produced with broadcaster TV2 and Miso Film. Denmark is also represented by Murder in the Dark, a four-part series from SAM Productions and Amazon MGM Studio based on Dan Turèll's book series. It stars Michael Falch as a retired, nameless journalist and Katinka Lærke Petersen as his daughter Sophie, a police detective.

Sweden rounds out the lineup with Sarek, a four-part psychological thriller based on Ulf Kvensler's debut novel and ordered by Widstrand. Its cast includes Felix Sandman, Kitt Walker Johansson, Alva Bratt and Nora Rios.

Emilia Widstrand, who became Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios Head of Nordic Originals in August last year, replacing Karin Lindström, said the Nordics operation will move toward a more feminine point of view. She pointed to female-led hits such as The Idea of You and The Summer I Turned Pretty as examples.
