Lance Oppenheim's upcoming film Primetime reimagines the television series To Catch a Predator as a horror movie, according to a feature published by Screen Rant. The film stars Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen, the host known for confronting suspected predators on camera, and Alex Winter as Bill Conradt.

The horror elements of Primetime draw inspiration from a real 2006 operation that was investigated by journalist Luke Dittrich for Esquire. That operation, which involved the series' tactics, provides the darker real-world foundation for the film's fictional scares.

A familiar format, reframed

To Catch a Predator became a cultural phenomenon for its staged confrontations, but Primetime shifts the tone from true-crime television to horror. By casting Pattinson as Hansen and Winter as Conradt, the film signals a serious, dramatic treatment of the material rather than a straightforward adaptation.

Oppenheim is known for his distinctive documentary style, and Primetime marks a move into narrative filmmaking with a subject that remains culturally charged. The project does not yet have a release date.
