Rapt Films Takes Worldwide Sales on SXSW Punk Comedy 'Edie Arnold Is A Loser'

Rapt Films has acquired worldwide sales rights excluding North America for Edie Arnold Is A Loser, the debut US feature from directors Megan Rico and Kade Atwood. Deadline reported the deal.

The film premiered at SXSW earlier this year and has since played festivals including Miami, Provincetown, Nantucket and Dances With Films Los Angeles. It won the Golden Space Needle Award for Best Film at the Seattle International Film Festival.

Written and directed by Rico with Atwood, the film follows a timid nerd who starts a punk band with misfit friends at an all-girls Catholic school. Adi Madden Cabrera plays the lead in her debut acting role, alongside McKenna Tuckett, Cherish Rodriguez, Alexa Paige, Niki Rahimi and Alan Mei Kern.

An Infigo Films production, the film is produced by Atwood with Bryson Alejandro. Rico and Atwood previously contributed to the YouTube sketch comedy show Studio C.

The film is currently on a theatrical roadshow release across the United States, having opened at the Broadway Theatre in Salt Lake City earlier this month.
