Regal's Deep Cuts Series Brings Oldboy and Vanilla Sky Back

Regal's new Deep Cuts series screens older films it says deserve a second look, starting with Oldboy on November 1.

Regal has announced a new theatrical series called Deep Cuts, which brings a lineup of older films back to cinemas, according to gizmodo.com. The chain says the series is for films that deserve a second look on the big screen.

The run opens on November 1 with Park Chan-wook's Oldboy. Under the Skin, directed by Jonathan Glazer, and Jon Favreau's Zathura both screen on November 6.

Bound follows on November 11, with Alex Cox's Repo Man on November 17 and Buster Keaton's The General on November 19. Cameron Crowe's Vanilla Sky closes the listed schedule on November 21.

Older titles, returning bookings

Several of the films are well past their first runs. The General was released in 1926 and marks its 100th birthday this year, while Repo Man came out in 1984 and was seen by very few people in theaters at the time. Bound was released in 1996.

Oldboy was remade by Spike Lee with Josh Brolin about 10 years after the original's release.
