Robert Eggers is ready to trade ravenous beasts for star-crossed lovers. During a post-screening Q&A for his upcoming film Werwulf, the director teased his take on William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet.
Eggers explained that he wanted a break after writing another horror movie that got very dark. His next project, a Romeo & Juliet adaptation, would mark a return to Focus Features, according to Deadline.
The deal is not yet finalized, but Eggers is expected to direct and produce the adaptation. He has previously collaborated with Focus Features on The Lighthouse, Nosferatu and Werwulf.
