Rodrigo Santoro, Camila Pitanga to Star in Marcelo Gomes' Garota da Urca

Rodrigo Santoro and Camila Pitanga are set to star in Garota da Urca, the next film from director Marcelo Gomes, according to Variety. Leonardo Moreira and Luciana Paes have been confirmed to write the script.

The film is a co-production between Matizar Filmes and Misti Filmes.

Gomes said the film is about a married couple approaching their 50s dealing with existential questions of middle age. He added that the project has been in the works for over three years.

Gomes broke out internationally with Cinema, Aspirins and Vultures, which screened at Cannes' Un Certain Regard in 2005. His credits also include I Travel Because I Have to, I Come Back Because I Love You, Joaquim and Paloma.

Santoro recently starred in Gabriel Mascaro's Berlin-winning The Blue Trail, and appeared in Richard Curtis's Love Actually and Zack Snyder's 300. Pitanga's film credits include I'd Receive the Worst News from Your Beautiful Lips and Basic Sanitation, The Movie.

In 2004, Santoro and Pitanga appeared together in the telenovela Mulheres Apaixonadas.
