Jamie Gordon and Maggie Malina have launched Rommi, a production studio dedicated to vertical romance content. The company will debut its first original vertical rom-com, Drive Me Mad, in October.

Drive Me Mad is based on an original idea by romance author Ali Rosen. Gordon will serve as CEO, with Malina as head of content.

Rommi is developing original stories from authors Emma Grey and Debbie Rigaud, and is adapting the best-selling romance books The Mixtape by Brittainy Cherry and This Spells Love by Kate Robb.

The studio has partnered with Morgann Book and Thomas Johnston of Bookish Media to co-produce and collaborate on its slate.

Industry veterans at the helm

Gordon is co-founder of Fugitive Films, with credits including Half the Sky, A Path Appears, Humor Me, Swimfan and In the Bedroom. Malina was longtime head of scripted programming at MTV/VH1, overseeing Single Ladies and Hit the Floor and MTV movies including 2Get+her and Hip-Hopera: Carmen. Her recent independent producer credits include Netflix's Resort To Love and ABC/Hulu's Promised Land.
