Rory Kennedy's 'The Trial of Alec Baldwin' Opens in Los Angeles
The documentary, which states Baldwin had no editorial or financial involvement, opens Friday after a Bend Film Festival Q&A.
Rory Kennedy's documentary The Trial of Alec Baldwin opens in Los Angeles on Friday, following a Q&A at the Bend Film Festival where the director discussed the project, according to Deadline.
In the Q&A, Kennedy said she approached Alec Baldwin about making the documentary, and that the project did not originate with him. The film states on screen that Baldwin had no editorial control, provided no financial support and received no compensation.
The documentary follows the case against Baldwin and Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who were charged in January 2023 with involuntary manslaughter, and the case being dismissed mid-trial.
In January 2024, a grand jury indicted Baldwin on felony involuntary manslaughter charges, and special prosecutors re-filed their case, after the earlier charges against him were dropped a few months after the January 2023 filing.
Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, initially disliked the film when they first saw it.
