RoseBerry Media Recuts Neighbours into Microdramas for Epis
RoseBerry Media is turning episodes of the Australian soap opera Neighbours into microdramas for Epis, a short-form vertical video streaming platform.
RoseBerry Media is recutting episodes of the Australian soap opera Neighbours into microdramas, according to a report from Variety on Monday. The clips will be available on Epis, a short-form vertical video streaming platform.
At launch, RoseBerry is only recutting two storylines from the late 2000s focused on a character played by Margot Robbie. The company has not announced additional storylines or a release date.
The move reflects the growing interest in microdramas, a format that originated in China and first gained traction around 2018 on platforms like Douyin and Kuaishou. Kuaishou's Unexpectedness was one of the first Chinese microseries to make a splash.
Revenue from short-form video was projected to hit $500 million by 2021, and that figure was expected to reach $7 billion by 2024 and $16.2 billion by 2030.
Other companies have experimented with similar recuts. Earlier this year, Tattle TV did something similar with Alfred Hitchcock's silent film The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog, while startup Snips is doing similar work with series like Big Brother and MasterChef.
Neighbours ran for 41 seasons from 1985 to 2025.
