Angel Studios opens U.S. preorders for Runner Blu-ray and DVD

Angel Studios has opened preorders in the United States for a Blu-ray and DVD release of Runner, according to joblo.com. Orders placed through the Angel Studios store are expected to ship in November.

The U.S. home video edition offers the PG-13 version of the film rather than the more violent international cut. Runner stars Alan Ritchson as Hank Malone, a former soldier and driver, and Owen Wilson as Ben Bishop, an organ courier. Scott Waugh directs.

The cast also includes Rodrigo Santoro, Leila George, Kate Box, Peta Sergeant, Geraldine Hakewill, Cecilia Toussaint and Scarlett Crabtree.

In September, Angel Studios said the version of Runner released in Canada was an older, unauthorized cut that predated the studio's involvement, and that it contained stronger language and significantly more violence than the version approved by the Angel Guild. The studio said it held distribution rights in the United States but not Canada.

Angel Studios also said it had told the producers it would not release the film unless the Guild-approved version was the only version playing in theatres worldwide, and that the producers agreed but the agreement was not honored. The studio has announced a content policy called The Angel Promise for future original films and series.
