Sam Esmail has parted ways with CAA, his agency since 2015, and is looking for new representation. His film Panic Carefully has also been delayed to April 2027.
Sam Esmail has left CAA, the agency that has represented him since 2015, and is now seeking new agency representation, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Esmail remains with his managers at Anonymous Content and his lawyer at McKuin Frankel.
In a separate development, the release date for Panic Carefully, the film starring Julia Roberts that was set up at Warner Bros., has been pushed from February 2027 to April 2027.
Background
Esmail's breakout series, Mr. Robot, ran on USA Network from 2015 to 2019. Before that show, he was repped by ICM.
He has since executive produced Briarpatch, Homecoming, Gaslit, Angelyne and The Resort, and wrote and directed the Netflix film Leave the World Behind, which starred Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.
Panic Carefully wrapped production in March 2025 and became mired in post-production.
