Sarah Chalke Says Scrubs Twist Responds to Fan Interest in J.D. and Elliot

Chalke told Collider that Season 2 Episode 7, "My Story", was made because fans cared about the J.D. and Elliot relationship, and leaves the door open.

Sarah Chalke has explained the twist at the centre of Scrubs Season 2 Episode 7, titled "My Story". In the episode, J.D. and Elliot appear to reunite over dinner, but the scenes turn out to be J.D.'s imagination as he falls asleep comforting his dementia patient Ms Croft. According to Collider, the episode confirms the couple did not go to dinner or kiss, and their divorce issues remain unresolved.

Chalke, who plays Elliot opposite Zach Braff's J.D., said the episode was made in response to fan interest in the relationship between the two characters. She also said the restaurant and waterfront scenes were filmed on the same day.

The actor added that the episode opens the door for what could possibly come next for the pair.

Divorced since the first season

J.D. and Elliot have been divorced since the first season of the Scrubs revival. Elsewhere in the revival, Sean Kelly, played by Scott Foley, gets together with Charlie, played by Rachel Bilson, after the two watch a movie in Pediatrics.

The original series used a similar reveal in the episode "My Screw Up", in which Brendan Fraser's Ben was revealed to have died and the birthday party scene was in fact a funeral.
