Severin Films, Hangtime to Remake Lucio Fulci's The Beyond

The two companies announced a partnership to remake horror classics, with Fulci's 1981 film as the first title and more remakes planned over two years.

Hangtime International Pictures and Severin Films are partnering to remake several horror classics, beginning with Lucio Fulci's The Beyond, according to Bloody Disgusting.

The partnership will secure remake rights to genre films for theatrical, streaming and physical media. The Beyond is the first of several planned remakes over the next two years.

Frank Murray is co-CEO of Hangtime. David Gregory is co-founder, president and CEO of Severin Films, and Claudia Marra is with Severin.

About the original

The Beyond was released in 1981 as the second movie in Lucio Fulci's Gates of Hell trilogy, following City of the Living Dead and followed by The House by the Cemetery. It was written by Dardano Sacchetti and Giorgio Mariuzzo and chronicles supernatural bedlam when a gateway to Hell is opened beneath a New Orleans hotel.
