Third Sicario film confirmed with Blunt, del Toro and Brolin

Padraic McKinley will direct and Steven Knight will write the new Sicario film, which enters production in 2027 without Taylor Sheridan or the prior directors.

A third Sicario film is officially confirmed, with Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin set to reunite, according to Collider. Padraic McKinley will direct the film, and Steven Knight will write the script.

Production on the new film is scheduled to begin in 2027. No release date has been given.

Taylor Sheridan, who wrote the first two Sicario films, is not involved in the third. Directors Denis Villeneuve, who helmed Sicario, and Stefano Sollima, who directed 2019's Sicario: Day of the Soldado, are also not returning.

McKinley moves into the director's chair after his feature debut, The Weight.

Neither of the first two films reached $100 million at the worldwide box office, though together they have grossed more than $170 million and have been long-running performers on the PVOD market. In a separate streaming result, a Sicario-style crime thriller set in Mexico is among Netflix's most-watched non-English films for a ninth week.
