Black Label Media and Thunder Road have announced that Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin will return for Sicario 3. Padraic McKinley is set to direct the film, with Steven Knight writing the script.
McKinley and Knight are currently working on the script with notes from the stars, and the plan is to shoot at the top of the year, according to Deadline. The project will then be taken to market, with several studios already showing interest.
Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill, Thad Luckinbill, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Ed McDonnell are producing.
The Sicario franchise was created by Taylor Sheridan. The first film was released in 2015 and was a surprise hit, while Sicario: Day of the Soldado followed in 2018 with Del Toro and Brolin returning to star. Lionsgate released both earlier films.
