Sony Pictures Hires YouTube's Fede Goldenberg to Lead Screen Gems

Sony Pictures has hired veteran YouTube executive Fede Goldenberg to lead its genre label Screen Gems, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Goldenberg was head of film and TV partnerships at YouTube.

Under the new creative strategy, Screen Gems will expand to include theatrical projects from digital-native storytellers. Goldenberg will report to Sony Pictures motion picture group president Sanford Panitch.

Ashley Brucks, who has been running the label as president since 2023, will transition to a producing role at the company.

Brucks took over Screen Gems as president in 2023. During her three-year tenure, the label released the horror movie Tarot and the box office hit Insidious: Out of the Further. Goldenberg became head of TV and film content partnerships at YouTube in 2017.
