Stallone Backs AI in Film, Says He Pitched De-Aged Rambo

Stallone said in an interview with The Overlap that he wanted a half-human, half-AI performance as a younger John Rambo, but Noah Centineo was cast.

Sylvester Stallone said artificial intelligence is here to stay and that Hollywood cannot stop it, and he confirmed he had pitched a half-human, half-AI de-aged performance to play his younger self in the John Rambo prequel, in an interview with The Overlap.

Noah Centineo, 30, was cast as the younger Rambo instead. Stallone said he holds an executive producer credit on the film, which is directed by Jalmari Helander and follows a young Rambo serving as a Green Beret during the Vietnam War.

He said John Rambo is scheduled for release on June 4, 2027.

Earlier criticism

Stallone had originally pitched producers on using AI de-aging to play his younger self, an idea that drew criticism when he discussed it previously, before Centineo took the role.

In the same interview he mentioned I Play Rocky, directed by Peter Farrelly and starring Anthony Ippolito, which he said arrives Nov. 6. He also named Peter O'Toole as the best actor of all time and praised Tom Hardy among contemporary performers.
