Stallone says Seagal was never invited to join The Expendables
Stallone told The Rest is Entertainment that Seagal was begging to be in the franchise, contradicting Seagal's claim he turned it down.
Sylvester Stallone said Steven Seagal was never invited to appear in The Expendables and was instead asking to be part of the franchise. Stallone made the comments on The Rest is Entertainment podcast, as reported by joblo.com.
"He was begging to be in it," Stallone said of Seagal. The actor added that he has nothing against Seagal but that the two have had their moments.
Stallone also said he does not know whether Seagal still makes action films and thinks he lives in Russia.
The remarks run against Seagal's own account. In October 2025, Seagal claimed he had turned down a role in the third The Expendables film.
Across four The Expendables movies, the franchise has featured Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis alongside Stallone as Barney Ross. Much of Seagal's output over the past two decades has been direct-to-video action movies, and he has not appeared in a film since 2019. His upcoming film Order of the Dragon is listed among his projects.
