Buscemi Confirms Mr. Pink and Pulp Fiction Waiter Are Same Character

Steve Buscemi said his Reservoir Dogs character Mr. Pink ended up as the Buddy Holly-impersonating waiter in Pulp Fiction, calling it the ultimate irony.

Steve Buscemi has confirmed that his Reservoir Dogs character Mr. Pink and the Buddy Holly-impersonating waiter he played in Pulp Fiction are the same person. The actor made the confirmation during a press interview with Jake Hamilton of Jake's Takes while promoting Wild Horse Nine alongside Parker Posey.

Buscemi described Mr. Pink ending up as a waiter as the ultimate irony of his life, hiding out in the job. The connection links two characters from Quentin Tarantino's early films.

In Reservoir Dogs, Buscemi played Mr. Pink in his first major collaboration with Tarantino. In 1994, he cameoed in Pulp Fiction as a waiter at Jack Rabbit Slim's who impersonates Buddy Holly.

The confirmation follows other Tarantino universe connections. Tarantino has confirmed that Michael Madsen's Reservoir Dogs character Vic Vega is the brother of John Travolta's Pulp Fiction character. Separately, Tarantino wrote and produced the screenplay for The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, directed by David Fincher, which continues the story of Brad Pitt's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood character.

Wild Horse Nine recently premiered and holds a 94% critics rating and 91% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
