Apple Confirms The Stormlight Archive Season 1 Will Run 10 Episodes

Apple has confirmed that Season 1 of its adaptation of The Stormlight Archive will consist of 10 episodes, with author Brandon Sanderson serving as lead writer, according to movieweb.com.

The production is reportedly still searching for a showrunner to oversee the series, leaving a key creative position unfilled as the project moves forward.

Apple's involvement extends beyond a single series: the company holds a broader deal covering Sanderson's entire Cosmere universe, a framework that also includes a planned Mistborn movie.

Source material and the road ahead

Sanderson designed The Stormlight Archive as 10 novels split into two five-book arcs. The first arc concluded with 2024's Wind and Truth, and Sanderson has said he is taking a multi-year break before drafting the second half of the series.

Apple has not publicly committed to a specific number of seasons for the show. The gap between published books and a long-running adaptation is a familiar issue in the genre; Game of Thrones ran out of source material ahead of its final seasons.
