Street Fighter Opens to Projected $31 Million, Best Debut in Franchise
Paramount's live-action reboot, directed by Kitao Sakurai, is tracking to top the domestic chart and beat both earlier films combined.
The new live-action "Street Fighter" film opened in theaters on October 16, 2026, and is projected to earn a $31 million three-day domestic opening weekend, according to Deadline's numbers as of Saturday morning. That would place it at No. 1 on the domestic chart.
The projected figure is the best domestic debut in the history of the Street Fighter film franchise. It also outgrosses the combined domestic debuts of the two previous live-action films, both unadjusted and adjusted for inflation.
Kitao Sakurai directed and co-wrote the film, which reportedly cost $82 million. The cast includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Jason Momoa as Blanka and David Dastmalchian as M. Bison.
How the earlier films performed
The 1994 "Street Fighter" opened to $6.8 million domestically, or $15.3 million adjusted for inflation, and went on to earn $99.4 million worldwide on a reported $35 million budget. "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" opened to $4.7 million in 2009, or $7.5 million adjusted, and finished with $12.8 million worldwide against a reported $50 million budget.
