DC Studios Drops Trailer for The Suicide Squad Podcast Special

The one-off episode, The Suicide Squad: Is It Canon? The Official Podcast, premieres October 30 on HBO Max with James Gunn, Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee.

DC Studios and HBO Max have released the official trailer for The Suicide Squad: Is It Canon? The Official Podcast, a one-off episode that goes live on Friday, October 30. James Gunn is joined on the episode by Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee.

The episode covers Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Ratcatcher 2, King Shark and Amanda Waller, among others. It also features set stories, messages from friends from The Suicide Squad and answers to fan questions.

According to bleedingcool.com, the trailer arrives as Gunn has been addressing questions about how the wider DCU slate fits together. The filmmaker posted a series of three Threads posts responding to a since-removed comment questioning his early 2023 description of the DCU vision.

Gunn restates standalone and saga approach

In those posts, Gunn said some stories would be standalone like the Guardians movies, which he said is what Clayface is, and some would be part of a larger narrative like the Superman Saga. He also restated that the originally pitched “8 to 10 year roadmap” covered the plan for DC as a whole, not only story points.

The podcast episode follows the studio's earlier continuity questions. Since The Suicide Squad released, John Cena's Peacemaker got its own show, which had its own first-season canon issues, while Weasel has joined Creature Commandos, with the animated series expected to return in late 2027, after Man of Tomorrow hits theaters.
