Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival Opens 30th Edition

The Estonian festival screens 230 features and 259 shorts from 87 countries, with Triin Tramberg in her first edition as artistic director.

The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) opens its 30th edition on Friday, with 230 feature films and 259 short films from 87 countries on the programme, according to hollywoodreporter.com.

The milestone edition arrives after a change at the top of the festival's artistic team. Founder and CEO Tiina Lokk gave up her role as festival director earlier this year to focus on strategic and developmental direction, and her daughter Triin Tramberg was promoted to artistic director.

PÖFF held its first edition in 1997, when the programme comprised 24 titles from the Nordic countries, Germany and France. In 2014 the festival received FIAPF A-list accreditation.

Last year, the festival recorded admissions of nearly 95,000.
