Tarantino Says Tenth Film Script Is Written, but Not Until Play Closes
The director told The Graham Norton Show he has a script he likes and will pursue it once his West End play The Popinjay Cavalier ends its run.
Quentin Tarantino has written a script he likes for what would be his tenth film, he confirmed on a recent episode of The Graham Norton Show, according to Variety. The appearance was his first on the show in more than a decade.
Tarantino said he will not move forward with the script until his play The Popinjay Cavalier closes, after which he plans to spend time with his family. He did not give a start date for the film.
The Popinjay Cavalier stars Sacha Baron Cohen and is described as a swashbuckling comedy. It began as a screenplay that Tarantino realized worked better as a play, and it will open at London's Phoenix Theatre next March following previews in late February, closing on June 13.
Tarantino has long said he will retire after his tenth feature film. His most recent, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, was released in 2019 and earned Brad Pitt the Oscar for best supporting actor, with Barbara Ling and Nancy Haigh winning for best production design. Tarantino was nominated for best picture and best director, and Leonardo DiCaprio for best actor.
