The third Tasveer Film Market will award $150,000 in grants during its run alongside the 21st Tasveer Film Festival in Seattle from Oct. 13-18, according to Variety. The total includes four production grants of $35,000 each and two Market Selects awards of $5,000 each.
Twelve fiction and documentary features in late-stage development were selected for the Tasveer Market Selects strand, and nine short film projects were shortlisted for the Tasveer Film Fund. At the Netflix-supported Tasveer Film Fund Pitch, nine finalists will present live to a jury that will decide the four $35,000 grants. A separate jury will choose two Market Selects titles to receive the $5,000 awards.
This year also debuts Tasveer EDU, running year-round sessions on development, financing, casting, rights and distribution. A market panel featuring Greg Laemmle, Cathy Ni and Lucas Ford will examine how South Asian films reach audiences, and Apoorva Bakshi will deliver a masterclass.
Companies sending executives include Zero Gravity Management, Aamir Khan Pictures, EST Studios, Netflix, Wieden+Kennedy and Buffalo 8.
