'The Mage' opened in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Taiwan on October 8. Edko Films acquired Hong Kong and Macau rights, while CJ ENM Hong Kong acquired Taiwan and Southeast Asia rights.

In July, the film had its world premiere at South Korea's Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN), where it also opened the Midnight section of the Bangkok International Film Festival. Josie Ho received the Fantastic Icon Award at BIFAN's 30th edition.

The film is scheduled for its European premiere in the Sitges Collection strand at Spain's Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival. It will open in Singapore on October 15 and Thailand on October 29, with releases in Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam due in November.
