Tom Hanks and Kelli O'Hara to Star in Broadway's This World of Tomorrow

The new play, written by Hanks and James Glossman, will be directed by Kenny Leon in a limited Fall 2027 engagement at a Shubert theater.

Tom Hanks and Kelli O'Hara will star in a Fall 2027 Broadway production of This World of Tomorrow, a new play written by Hanks and James Glossman. Kenny Leon will direct, according to Deadline.

The production is set for a Shubert theater to be announced and is billed as a strictly limited engagement. Producer Brian Anthony Moreland announced the run in association with The Shed.

The play is based on a series of short stories written by Hanks. A synopsis describes a character named Bert Allenberry traveling repeatedly to a day at the 1939 New York World's Fair in Queens.

Complete cast and creative team details will be announced shortly.

The announcement follows a sold-out eight-week Off Broadway engagement of This World of Tomorrow at The Shed last year. More than 14 years ago, Hanks received a Tony nomination for his performance in Nora Ephron's play Lucky Guy.
