Tom Welling Says Superman Actors Discussed Team-Up, Nothing Formal

The Smallville star said talks among the Supermen happened on the convention circuit, and he is open to a different DC Universe role.

Tom Welling said the actors who have played Superman discussed working together, but that nothing formal came of it, according to an interview conducted for Smallville's 25th anniversary and reported by screenrant.com. The Smallville star, who played Clark Kent, also said he had not considered approaching Warner Bros. about a large DC multiverse crossover project.

Welling said that around last year there was a big push on the convention circuit to get all the Supermen together. He said the actors had conversations about working together, though no formal plan followed. Among the Superman actors he said he gets along with is Brandon Routh.

Welling did not shut the door on a future DC role. He said he would not rule out joining the DC Universe as a different character.

Praise for Spider-Verse

In the same interview, Welling praised the Spider-Verse films and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Smallville aired from 2001 to 2011 on The WB and The CW. The Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover brought together Welling, Tyler Hoechlin and Routh as different Supermen. Michael Rosenbaum, a Smallville alum, had a voice cameo in James Gunn's Superman.
