Douglas Keeve's 1995 documentary Unzipped is returning to theaters in a new 4K restoration from Janus Films. Keeve supervised the restoration, which was carried out by the Sundance Institute and the UCLA Film & Television Archive.
The film follows designer Isaac Mizrahi as he mounts his 1994 Nanook of the North-inspired collection during Paris Fashion Week. Keeve was dating Mizrahi when he made the documentary, and Mizrahi's mother, Sarah, appears as a main character.
Unzipped premiered at the 1995 Sundance Film Festival, where it won an audience award. Its runway scenes feature Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, and Kate Moss.
Keeve has said the movie had nothing to do with his and Mizrahi's breakup. IndieWire reported on the restoration and re-release.
