Seminci's 71st edition runs through October 31 with 208 titles, 22 films in official competition and Gael García Bernal's Hombre al agua as the closing film.

The 71st Valladolid International Film Festival (Seminci) opens on October 23, 2026, and runs through October 31, with 30 world premieres among its 208 titles, according to Variety.

The programme comprises 137 features and 71 shorts, and the festival counts 121 premieres in total. Twenty-two films are in official competition. Just over half of the 30 world premieres are Spanish productions or co-productions.

Lili Horvát's My Notes on Mars, starring Mackenzie Davis, opens the festival. Gael García Bernal's Hombre al agua, his third directorial feature, closes it. The official competition includes May el-Toukhy's Woman Unknown and İlker Çatak's Yellow Letters, while Daniel Calparsoro's El confidente screens in the official selection out of competition.

Ione Hernández Sáenz's feature debut Hermanas competes for the Golden Spike.

Mariona Viader and Javier H. Estrada serve as interim co-directors of the festival. José Luis Cienfuegos, the festival's director, died in December; Viader, previously general coordinator, and Estrada, formerly head of programming, took over in the interim. Cienfuegos had introduced the festival's programming vision in 2023.
