VisionQuest Episode 2 Teases Jim Hammond, Marvel's Original Human Torch

A fiery figure appears briefly in the Disney+ series, with Jarvis describing a being consumed by fire.

The second episode of the Disney+ series VisionQuest briefly features a fiery figure who appears to be Jim Hammond, the original Human Torch, according to comingsoon.net.

In the episode, Jarvis warns Vision about the dangers of unchecked feelings and describes a figure consumed by fire, strongly suggesting Hammond's identity without naming him.

Vision calls Hammond the first of his kind and a cautionary example, suggesting his emotional volatility led to devastating consequences. The series has not officially identified the character or revealed his full backstory.

Hammond technically made his MCU debut in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger, where his suit sat on display at the Stark Expo under the label "Synthetic Man." In Marvel's comic book history, scientist Phineas T. Horton constructed Hammond in 1939 as an advanced synthetic being whose solar cells granted him the power to burst into flame.

Hammond first appeared in Marvel Comics #1, created by Carl Burgos for Timely Comics, the publisher that later became Marvel. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby reused the Human Torch name and fire abilities decades later for Johnny Storm of the Fantastic Four.
