J.A.R.V.I.S. Deletes Himself in VisionQuest Episode 2

J.A.R.V.I.S. deletes himself in the second episode of VisionQuest, sacrificing himself to save the other six AI entities living inside Vision. The episode, reported on by Polygon, shows Vision shot with adamantium bullets and losing enough power to house all seven AI entities in his programming.

Those seven entities are Vision himself, J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., U, D.U.M.-E and Ultron. Faced with losing the capacity to contain them all, J.A.R.V.I.S. chooses to erase himself so the others can survive.

James D'Arcy plays J.A.R.V.I.S. in VisionQuest rather than Paul Bettany. Bettany plays Vision, while the other AI entities are played by Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., Jonathan Sayer as U, Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E and James Spader as Ultron.

A character who started as a butler

In Marvel Comics, J.A.R.V.I.S. was Tony Stark's butler, not an AI. When Iron Man was adapted for the big screen, director Jon Favreau turned J.A.R.V.I.S. into an AI named after the comics butler, and there was no plan at the time Paul Bettany was cast that he would eventually become Vision.

In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ultron attacks J.A.R.V.I.S., but the damaged AI survives, and Stark and Bruce Banner later install him and the Mind Stone into a synthezoid body that Thor's lightning brings to life. In the ABC series Agent Carter, James D'Arcy played Howard Stark's butler Jarvis, the man J.A.R.V.I.S. was named after, and the character appeared in the 1970 scene at Fort Lehigh in Avengers: Endgame.
