Walton Goggins Joins Universal's 'Miami Vice '85' Cast
Walton Goggins is set to star in Universal's 'Miami Vice '85' alongside Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler, with a deal finalized last week.
Walton Goggins has been cast in Universal's Miami Vice '85, joining a lineup that already includes Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler. The deal was completed last week after scheduling for his Amazon series Fallout was worked out, according to Deadline.
Sources indicate Goggins is expected to play a henchman to John Leguizamo's cartel king, though that detail remains unconfirmed.
The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski and also stars Whitney Peak, Alden Ehrenreich, Camila Morrone, John Leguizamo and Danny Ramirez. Dan Gilroy wrote the screenplay, inspired by the pilot episode of the 1984-90 NBC series Miami Vice.
Miami Vice '85 will be shot for Imax and is set for release on May 19, 2028, with production beginning this year. It is produced by Dylan Clark/Dylan Clark Productions and Kosinski, based on characters created by Anthony Yerkovich; Eric Warren Singer wrote an earlier draft.
Goggins is currently in production on Season Three of Fallout for Amazon and recently wrapped Mister for Amazon International. Hexed, an animated film featuring Goggins, opens in theaters on November 25.
