Wheel of Fortune Stage Manager Jimmy McGuire Announces Exit
Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White brought McGuire on stage during the October 23 episode to thank him for his years behind the scenes.
Jimmy McGuire, the longtime stage manager of Wheel of Fortune, announced during the October 23 episode that he is leaving the show, according to comingsoon.net. Hosts Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White brought him on stage for a farewell and thanked him for his years of work.
McGuire wore a jacket marking the show's 40th season during the send-off.
Beyond Wheel of Fortune, McGuire serves as stage manager for Jeopardy!. It is unclear whether he is also leaving that show.
The departure comes after the program parted ways with announcer Jim Thornton last month. Thornton was let go following an alleged incident in May 2026 on American Airlines Flight 1267 to Los Angeles International Airport. His lawyer said at the time that law enforcement had spoken to Thornton only briefly and released him without charging him with any crime, but he was suspended and ultimately let go.
Thornton's absence affected episodes that had already been filmed. When Season 44 premiered, fans heard a different announcer, and some believed it was McGuire, though the show has not officially confirmed the announcer's identity.
