New Witchcraft Trilogy Set for 2027 and 2028 Releases

Jason Paul Collum has written, produced and directed a new trilogy continuing the story of the 1988 film Witchcraft, according to joblo.com. The three films are Witchcraft XIX: Our Father, Witchcraft XX: 40 Years Later and Witchcraft XXI: Brotherhood of Saints.

Witchcraft XIX: Our Father is expected in early 2027, with Witchcraft XX: 40 Years Later scheduled for January 2028. Witchcraft XXI: Brotherhood of Saints is currently targeting a July 28, 2028 release.

The first two films were shot in summer 2026, and production on the third is planned for early 2027. David S. Sterling joins the trilogy as producer alongside Collum.

Michael Newby plays the warlock Will Spanner, with Aurelia Despin as his daughter Miracle and Tina Ona Paukstelis as his wife Elia. The cast also includes Brinke Stevens, Judith O'Dea, Michelle Bauer, Melanie Kinnaman, Karen Dilloo and Darcey Vanderhoef.

The films include Easter eggs referencing horror classics such as The Boogey Man, Deadly Blessing, When a Stranger Calls, The Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby, and the trilogy features a tribute to the late Julie Strain. Collum says the trilogy emphasizes characterization and storytelling over the nudity and sex associated with earlier sequels.

Separate from Witchcraft XVIII

The new trilogy is separate from Witchcraft XVIII: The Lanterne of Light, which has been in development in recent months. The original Witchcraft, released in 1988, contained no nudity or sex; beginning with 1989's Witchcraft II: The Temptress, the series became known for both.
