Anker announced the Solix S5000, a portable home backup battery priced at $3,600, according to Gizmodo. The unit goes on sale starting Oct. 27 at a launch discount price of $2,500.
The S5000 draws as few as 8.8W of idle power when it is not under load. It uses a 314Ah LiFePO4 battery with capacity expandable up to 30kWh, and Anker rates it for up to 10,000 charge cycles and an estimated service life of up to 15 years.
For output, the S5000 can steadily deliver up to 4,500W through its L13-30 240V port. It carries UL 9540 safety certification and a five-year warranty.
Standby power compared with a rival
Standby consumption is one point of comparison in this category. According to Jackery's specs, the Jackery Explorer 5000 Plus consumes a steady 50W in standby mode.
Anker has previously said the smaller Solix S2000 lasts 35 hours running a fridge, and the company's Solix E10 whole home backup system has been reviewed previously.
