Apple's HomeView to Recognize Users Without Biometrics
Apple's HomeView smart home display will personalize content by detecting nearby users through their other Apple devices, AppleInsider reports.
Apple's upcoming HomeView smart home display will identify nearby users and show their personal information without relying on biometrics, AppleInsider reports. Instead of scanning a face or fingerprint, the device will use a user's other Apple products to determine who is close by before displaying personal items.
The approach means a user's calendar and other personal data would appear on the HomeView screen only after the device confirms the person is nearby through their other Apple hardware. Apple says HomeView can recognize up to six people, each with their own personalized Home Screen.
Shared content works differently. Photo albums, music and similar material can be accessed by anyone in the household as well as their guests, according to the company.
Apple has not said when HomeView will go on sale or how much it will cost.
