Report: Apple HomeView Units Sat in Warehouses for Nearly a Year
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says the smart home device ships next month after waiting on software; it runs an A18 chip with 8GB of memory.
Apple's HomeView smart home device is set to reach consumers next month, after units spent the better part of a year boxed in warehouses waiting for its software to catch up, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, as reported by Gizmodo.
The device uses an A18 processor and carries 8GB of memory. Apple licensed an AI model from Google while developing the HomeView's AI-powered software interface.
The HomeView is part of a line called the Apple Home Collection, which involves collaborations with LG and Schneider Electric. On October 13, social media user Ray Wong posted a first look at the collection; on October 14, former Apple employee Carl Schoeller posted about his work on the HomeView's green LED brightness.
Earlier delays
In 2023, Gurman wrote that Apple was developing a smart home device with a screen, described at the time as a "low-end iPad." In March, he reported the product was frozen while Apple struggled to build the AI-powered software interface.
In 2025, Apple tied the HomeView's release to LG products. About a month before Gurman's report, a viral YouTube video claimed LG smart TVs' microphones pick up ambient audio around the clock, a claim LG denied.
