Apple taps US suppliers for about 100 iPhone 18 Pro, Duo parts

Apple will invest up to $100 million over three years in Pennsylvania titanium maker Perryman for the iPhone Duo's exterior.

Apple said on October 20, 2026, that it is expanding U.S. sourcing of about 100 components for the iPhone 18 Pro and its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, bringing in new partners and deepening ties with existing suppliers through its American Manufacturing Program. The parts will come from companies in more than 12 U.S. states, according to digitaltoday.co.kr.

The largest new commitment is titanium. Apple will invest up to $100 million over the next three years in Perryman, a metals company based in Pennsylvania, which will melt, forge and roll the Grade 5 titanium used in the iPhone Duo's exterior. Apple said the material will contain at least 80% recycled content.

Camera, chips and glass

Delaware-based Quinti Electronics will produce film for the variable aperture camera in the iPhone 18 Pro. Broadcom is expanding and modernizing its Fort Collins, Colorado plant under a $1.5 billion investment plan announced in July, and will make more than 15 billion chips in the U.S. under a multi-year contract. TSMC's Arizona site is expected to produce more than 100 million chips for Apple products in 2026, while Amkor Technology is building a packaging and testing facility in Peoria, Arizona, expected to support more than 3,500 local jobs across its first two phases, with Apple as an early customer.

Corning's Harrodsburg, Kentucky plant will supply specialty glass including Ceramic Shield. Apple plans for all cover glass in iPhones and Apple Watches sold worldwide to come from that plant by the end of 2026. Coherent supplies vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser technology at its Sherman, Texas plant, used in Face ID and in the Dynamic Island of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

The expansion extends Apple's 2025 U.S. investment plan, which raised its four-year U.S. commitment to a total of $600 billion. Apple also requires direct suppliers to run all manufacturing processes for Apple products on renewable energy by 2030. Most final assembly of iPhones still takes place overseas, and Apple did not say how much the Perryman deal would expand short-term production capacity.
