Developer Releases Artcraft, a 7-App Open-Source Adobe Suite Alternative
Brandon Thomas built Artcraft with Claude Opus 5.5 and Rust, saying it recreates Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and other Adobe apps.
Atlanta-based developer Brandon Thomas has released Artcraft, a free open-source alternative to Adobe Creative Suite, on GitHub. The suite contains seven apps: Photocraft, Vectorcraft, Filmcraft, Lightcraft, Printcraft, Effectcraft, and Designcraft.
Thomas says he used Claude Opus 5.5 and the Rust programming language to recreate Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom, Acrobat Pro, After Effects, and InDesign as separate tools. He announced the release in posts on Reddit and Hacker News, where Gizmodo reported the news.
In his announcement, Thomas described the apps as being in an early alpha state and not ready for use. He invited developers to contribute to the project and said he is offering paid bug bounties.
